Praise for Karen's DOGS!

Rosie with Obama the Chihuahua

"Obama was extremely reactive to dogs, to the point I couldn't even take him to the park, he barked relentlessly at dogs that were miles away. It was embarrassing for me and distressing for him. After trying 2 dog trainers before Karen I didn't think much could be done to change his ways.

After a few weeks of clicking and treating dogs in the distance he became confident in Ruby's (Karen's dog) company they walked around together building his confidence around other dogs. On a long training lead, following Ruby's example he learned to greet off the lead dogs and began to play nicely with them. I couldn't believe it! He also attended a couple of training walks with Ruby and some new dogs - this really helped him too.

I can now take Obama to the park on my own, on his training lead without a second thought. He greets and plays with dogs with no problems and I can easily call him away from dogs he seems wary of. It's honestly like having a new dog. It's been a long process but it has definitely been worth it. I had hoped at best I would be able to stop his barking - I didn't think for a second he'd be willingly making friends with dogs and engaging in friendly play!

To my amazement Obama was able to attend one of Karen's monthly social dog walks with around 15+ strange, off-lead dogs. It was a true test but he was absolutely fine, I couldn't believe it. He has now attended 2!

Obama is like a different dog now - I'm so grateful to Karen (and Ruby!)"

Lauren with Chewie the Labradoodle

"Because Chewie was my first dog, I was keen to get off to a good start and I'm delighted I chose Karen to help me!

We had some 1-2-1 sessions - Chewie absolutely adored both Karen and the training! Karen is really patient with the pups, and her training shows great results! We'll definitely be continuing with Karen's courses as Chewie gets older!"

Maureen With Beinn the Springer

"I wish I had known about Karen's Dogs when I first got my rescue Springer Spaniel. I found the training tips very useful and the methods used are gentle and encouraging. I have managed to incorporate training methods into everyday circumstances and I feel I have developed a better relationship with my dog as a result."

Christina with Indie the Yorkie

"I turned to Karen for help when I felt I was at my wit’s end with my one year old Yorkie Indie. He is a very excitable but equally insecure dog when it comes to interacting with other dogs. His reactivity shows in excessive barking – not immediately dangerous but very embarrassing…

In the real world with a reactive dog you will often encounter situations that you cannot control. In our case it has usually been: Indie barking his head off at an approaching dog and then being allowed to greet it, especially when the other one is off leash - other dog owners seem to see no danger because Indie is so small and so they let their big dogs come up close.

For Indie that meant “If I bark lots I get to say hello”. Or if he barked out of insecurity and the other dog disappeared, he was rewarded too. Great. How do we deal with that?

We turned to Karen for help. We are now able to greet other dogs in a controlled and polite manner when given the time and simply walking past other dogs is a lot more peaceful. Indie seems to have picked up that if he sees anything (like people hula hooping for example) that makes him feel uncomfortable, he can turn to me for guidance and reassurance. It is a wonderful feeling and I am very positive that with more practice and good experiences he will be a happier more confident dog in no time!"

Liz with Fergus the Cockapoo

"Fergus my 6 month old cockapoo pup got off to a bad start due to confusion with his vaccinations, which knocked his socialisation back by several weeks, resulting in a nervy, hyper puppy. After one to one instruction from Karen along with a very supportive email I can say that he has made enormous progress & is now much calmer and more biddable. An excellent course which I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone."

Barbara with Sophie the Rough Collie

"Sophie is deaf in one ear and cannot tell where sounds originate from. Karen has been very helpful in suggesting training methods to meet her special needs and web sites to get equipment from. I will certainly recommend her training classes to anybody who has a new puppy or problems with an older dog."

Lucy with Cookie the Labradoodle

"We have used Karen for both group and 1 to 1 training.  She is knowledgeable,  experienced and reassuring. Our Labradoodle can now be left on his own after a terrible separation anxiety problem.  No harsh methods but positive reinforcement and an in-depth understanding of dog behaviour. I couldn't recommend her more."

Jenni with Sadie the Labrador

"Called Sadie off another dog less than 10m in front of her today and she came back! Trained her recall using a whistle based on the Devoted to Dogs Online Training Course. She’s only 8 months old and I can walk her with confidence and know that she responds to me. It makes for such a nice dog walk!"
